" Blog Bucks " How many times a week should you blog? Affiliate Programs Webmaster Sing Ups & Tips

How many times a week should you blog?

Since I started researching into social media and blogs, I have come across this question many times. “How often should I blog?

It’s a very good question, as the answer will allow you to allocate the time each week to creating your new blog posts.
Many experts in the social media field, who run multi million pound companies all say the same thing – “Blog every day”. As much as I think it would be great to create a blog post every day, this is not realistic for most small businesses.
If you have a marketing team behind you who can dedicate their time to creating brilliant blog content every day, then great. However in companies where you are your marketing team, there is not enough time in a day to accomplish this.

So why do the experts say ‘Every day’?

There are many reasons for this:
  1. Great for search engine optimisation (SEO)
  2. Keeps you up to date with latest trends
  3. Shows your an expert in your field
  4. Keeps your readers coming back to you
  5. Provides you with content for Social Media
However there are some drawbacks
  1. Each blog post takes time – approximately 2 hours per post if your just getting started
  2. Time creating content is away from time doing paid work
  3. The quality can drop as you try and rush a post each day

How often should you create new content?

Unfortunately I don’t have the correct answer for you. But I can give you a way to find out for yourself.
1. Figure out who will be creating the content for you
Is it you or one of your team members? Maybe you have a group of people who can create the content – The best blogs come from teams of people.
2. What is their normal workload?
Do they have time to fit in an hour or two each week? Can they make time in their schedule?
Most work days are already pretty full, but can move anything around to create the extra couple of hours needed? If you have a team, you could allocate the blog to one team member per week.
3. Have you planned your content?
If you have planned what you are going to write about before you start writing, the task becomes a lot easier. Spend an hour or two writing down as many topics as you can possibly think of. If you can do this as a team then even better!
4. Is it feasible to write content every day?
If you don’t have the time to write content every day, then there is no point in trying. You will end up creating badly written articles that could damage your reputation more than they  can drive traffic.
5. Can you be consistent?
Consistency is one of the most important things when blogging. It’s the same with social networks. If you start creating content, your readers will expect you to keep creating content.
By answering these questions, you should have a better understanding of what you are capable of, and some ideas of the content you can create.
It’s true that blogging every day is the best option; however that is only true if it’s feasible. I create content on this website once a week, every Monday. That’s because it would be impossible for me to create content every day of the week whilst holding down a full time job and having any sort of life.
Once you have worked out exactly how often you should be creating your blog entries, why not take a look at your web page and make sure it is converting your readers to leads.
